Equine-Assisted Therapy
Equine-Assisted Therapy offers a different way of engaging in the therapeutic process. Rather than sitting across from one another in a consulting room, sessions take place alongside horses in a calm, natural environment, creating opportunities for insight through experience as well as conversation.
Horses are highly attuned, social animals that respond authentically to the people around them. They do not judge, diagnose or expect us to be anything other than we are in the present moment. Through guided interactions, they can help bring awareness to patterns of communication, emotional responses, boundaries, trust and connection in ways that are often immediate and deeply meaningful.
No previous horse experience is required, and there is no riding involved. Equine-Assisted Therapy focuses on safely working with horses from the ground, allowing the therapeutic relationship, rather than horsemanship, to remain at the centre of the experience. Sessions are paced according to your comfort, needs and therapeutic goals.
This approach may be helpful for people experiencing anxiety, trauma, life transitions, grief, relationship challenges or difficulties feeling connected to themselves or others. It can also support those who find traditional talk therapy difficult, offering an embodied, experiential way of exploring thoughts, emotions and patterns of relating.
Bronwyn's approach integrates Equine-Assisted Therapy with trauma-informed, sex-positive and relational practice. The work is guided by curiosity rather than judgement, creating space to explore your experiences with compassion, safety and respect for your own pace.
